Q:   How was the Blonde Legal Defense Club created?
A:   Elle Woods founded the BLDC while a student at Harvard Law School in response to the legal community assuming she wasn't anything more than something pretty to look at. Its grassroots "Fight for the Fair-haired!" message has since expanded to encompass more than just law-world prejudice. The BLDC is for anyone blonde or blonde-at-heart who's being treated wrongly because of their follicular appearance.

Q:   Why is being blonde so important?
A:   Being blonde is not the issue. Prejudice against blondes is, and we're simply reacting to those who perceive our blondeness as a handicap or "stupidity signal."

Q:   Do I have to be blonde to join the Club?
A:   No, you don't have to be blonde, only "blonde-at-heart." It's a simple phrase, really, but it sums it up perfectly. A sunny disposition, determination, and a willingness to achieve are all that are necessary.

Q:   What does the Club do?
A:   This year we're sponsoring the annual National Blonde Day to be celebrated on June 30, 2003, to promote awareness and equality for blondes and non-blondes alike. Consistently comprised of the best and brightest members of the community, our chapters also participate in local fashion shows, charity events and fundraisers, and we further blonde issues through petitions, seminars, and expositions. Additionally, we're a fabulous resource for non-blondes ready to make the switch, and our network of stellar members can offer all manners of expertise, from fashion advice to career networking.

Q:   Are there any famous members of the Club?
A:   Is Prada expensive?
We have several famous members, but we don't name-drop at the BLDC. Everyone has something to contribute and we're all totally worthwhile people, West Coast or East Coast, blonde or brunette, or even red-headed. Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel have been named our celebrity spokespersons for National Blonde Day, though.
